Fresh release in the Apple Store!! First external web browser available for download. After reading an article I directly downloaded the app and I was really surprised by the quality of this browser.
The main page can be personalized with your preferred internet site. Once you are in a site you can still switch between several pages.
Ever went to Spain and would have loved getting some Tapas & Drinks the proper way (in Spanish)? Want to appear more “local”?
There are a few options if you don’t already speak Spanish:
1) Take a course, spend money and time, repeat that a few times till you get the right level.
2) Marry a Spanish girl or guy and try to see if you get to learn the language
3) Get Jibbigo on your iPhone!
Jibbigo won’t let you look less geek but will make you “automagically” speak Spanish helping you out in any foreing country where Spanish is the main language. So how does Jibbigo work? Jibbigo is an iPhone application that costs about 25$. This application is able to listen to somebody speaking English and translate it to Spanish (and other way around). Looks promising, isn’t it? Well, the video is actually even better! Check it out.
The other good thing is that it doesn’t need an internet connection to do its magic but a 3Gs is recommended.
Rejoy! How many of us played Command & Conquer till late at night (early in the morning)? I remember loving the game.
Finally the Realtime strategy genre of the Appstore got some beef: here is Command & Conquer Red Alert for the iPhone (and iPod Touch).
Single tap to choose units, drag to scroll, pinch to zoom… All the gestures we’re used to in the iPhone, now to control your tanks and other units in this nice remake of the original 1996 hit. You ge to choose between the Soviets or the Allies and then play with the same set of units as the original game, plus a few extra that belong to this new release.
12 levels of pure strategy… I know I’ll be running to the Appstore… Now!
Just a quick post to notify whoever doesn’t check the Appstore at least 4 times a day (for updates or new apps) that a new version of Dropbox (what a good service this is!) has been posted to the Appstore yesterday.
This update is meant to fix a few things, most notably, the compatibility with OS 3.0. Lot of people didn’t upgrade to 3.1 either because of the know “random shutdowns” or because no jailbreak was available, those same people couldn’t use Dropbox on their iPhone as the application simply would not run on an iPhone running an OS lower than 3.1
We could argue the speed of the approval process as this update came out AFTER 3.1.2 was released and a JB being available, still, always good to see updates flowing in.
My recommendation? Signup with Dropbox (using this link we’ll get a bit more space each) and install the iPhone app right away. Personally love it!
Just to show you that here at LuxiPhone we do try to give the best, here is an Alpha, ugly, just for test (could go on this way for a long time) version of the long awaited (really?) LuxiPhone application!
Looks ugly, I know and lot of work has still to be done.
Anyhow, the aim of this application is to give you a direct access to LuxiPhone’s content. No more web pages loading (unless you really want to), straight to the headlines via a simple and typical “iPhonesque” interface.
Other features will be added and it’ll still take some time before you’ll be able to see (and download) it from the AppStore, but we thought to share with you our plans. We’ll be posting screenshots as the development goes on and please… Don’t hesitate posting your ideas, critics and suggestions, as this application is for you.
Rockstar games, famous for GTA (if you didn’t know that, what planet were you living in the past X years?) “says” this fall we’ll be able to play one of the most famous titles ever made, on our iPhone: GTA. The version to be released is GTA Chinatown Wars, which has already been ported to various platforms, including the Nintendo DS (with quite some success). Another title to be released is Beaterator. Some kind of Beat Machine. Personally, the beat machine, although it could be nice, won’t get me to stay awake till fall, but GTA definitely will. When such big titles get ported… Want a sign of success bigger than that?

Quick post to report (in case you didn’t notice yet) that Facebook for iPhone has been updated to version 3.0.1.
This release fixes some bugs users were experiencing and we can say it has quickly passed the approval process. We’re all happy about this, what a lovely way to start the week.
As reported in some updated app release notes and the Appadvice website, Apple kindly asked some developers to remove from their application(s) a specific functionality: freeing memory.
The official reason for this request has not been given to the developers. It was just said that either an updated version without this feature was released, or the application was going to be removed from the AppStore. Some developers chose to remove the functionality from their application (like iStat developer), while others decided to de-list the application completely.
It is actually unclear why Apple requested this and, as usual, giving no official reason, it leads the web to speculate. Some people say that as some developers have not been contacted, it may rely on the way the memory is released. A more aggressive approach, freeing all the “freeable” memory could be deemed by Apple as risky, while other developers putting limits to the amount that can be freed could still be allowed to offer this functionality in their app. Speculation is always the same, when nobody knows the real reason behind something, anything can be true. Make your mind… No, no, it’s not because the new 3Gs has much more RAM…
Be careful what you wish for, cause you just might get it. Many of us veterans played duke nukem with it’s stunning 3d environement and all the sprites..back in 96 when it got released.. Feel the nostalgia? Well I’m not hiding I bought this title with high expectations. So did it live-up? Well, no.
After all the great ui we have come to see with other titles from Gameloft or id Software, Electronic Arts, I must say I was dissappointed by the controls. They offer some level of customisation and let you rearange the layout, yet not good enough. Hope 1.1 will address this issue soon…
