I imagine most iPhone users updated to 3.1 and while I hope the majority has no issues, still, some of us are experiencing new “features”, let’s call them like this.
I updated my iPhone to the various beta 3.1 releases. Was really hoping the last I installed (the third), not to be the last. Couldn’t post in here because of the agreement you have to “sign” when joining the developer program regarding beta releases, but since now 3.1 is official, I guess there is no binding anymore on past betas.
The third beta worked pretty well… Except for a very annoying bug. Very annoying. From time to time my iPhone would simply refuse to wake up when the home button was pressed. The screen would stay black, no way to get it back to life except waiting for it to decide it was time for it or doing a reset. When eventually it came back to “life”, the signal level would be none and suddenly back to full (in case of good coverage). This lead me to think it was related to my phone losing (for some obscure reason) coverage and going nuts. I was really hoping in a new beta to fix this bug. People are not meant to talk about new features or bugs in betas… So you can’t expect much said about it. Still, it was such a “visible” issue I thought Apple couldn’t miss to fix it in the final build of 3.1
The final build came out last week. You can imagine I rushed on my Mac to update my iPhone, still, bit intrigued, curious to know if this final version wasn’t actually the beta I already had on my iPhone (happened this way with 3.0). The build iTunes downloaded had a different version number. I was really hoping the fix had been included. Actually not (and was quite a weird/quick update too).
I don’t know how many of you reading this blog are experiencing the same. I know at least one of you does as he called me asking if I had the same issue. Well, we’re not alone. Check around and you’ll see many others having the same issue with random shutdowns, black screens and even batteries running out in 20 minutes.
Really hope this is going to be fixed soon. So, what new feature 3.1 brought to you?
