Rejoy! How many of us played Command & Conquer till late at night (early in the morning)? I remember loving the game.

Finally the Realtime strategy genre of the Appstore got some beef: here is Command & Conquer Red Alert for the iPhone (and iPod Touch).

commandandconquer

Single tap to choose units, drag to scroll, pinch to zoom… All the gestures we’re used to in the iPhone, now to control your tanks and other units in this nice remake of the original 1996 hit. You ge to choose between the Soviets or the Allies and then play with the same set of units as the original game, plus a few extra that belong to this new release.

12 levels of pure strategy… I know I’ll be running to the Appstore… Now!

(Thanks to Appadvice for the news)

536757We’ve known for quite some time now that a Lumines port for the iPhone was in the works, and with the flurry of releases lately it likely slipped to the back of everyone’s mind. Tonight LUMINES – Touch Fusion [App Store] appeared for download along with an associated lite version, and so far the reaction in our forums has been all over the place.

The game is completely Lumines, with everything from flashy visual flare to the signature Lumines soundtrack. If you’re unfamilar with the series, here are the basics:

Gameloft hasn’t had a week without a release lately and this one I was really looking forward to. At this rythm “Gameloft” will become a category on it’s own. I’m a huge fan and this is a “Baldur’s Gate” role playing game clone. I don’t mind Gameloft cloning all major game-styles and renders them playable on a phone. I do hope they will start working eventually on an original concept one of these days. In the meantime have a look at Dungeon Hunter. I’m downloading mine as I write this article and I’m pretty confident it will be huge.
What game would you like Gameloft to clone next? Comments here please.

This is a short clip from one of the upcoming games from Tapulous (Tap Tap Revenge) that has been presented on the 9.9.9 event. I think this is one of those original concepts that can only work on an iPhone. The idea is far-catched but seems to reinvent the genre : rythm game meets racing game. It’s like if Guitar Hero and Wipeout had a baby, well Riddim Ribbon would be the result.

release date due sometime in september, featuring 4 exclusive remixes from the Black Eyed Peas. Enjoy the clip.

C64… You remember those days where games were fitting in a disk, I mean a floppy disk? An entire game in 360Kb? Those were the days! Well, Manomio thought about all the people that could feel this hint of nostalgia and released a C64 emulator for the iPhone.

C64

Well, not without a little troubles at the beginning. Yep, the first attempt Manomio made to release this emulator, Apple rejected the app. You have to know, if you don’t yet, that Apple SDK agreement strictly forbids the development of applications running external code. This means that generally speaking, an emulator, meant to run an application or game not specifically designed for the iPhone (like a C64 game) is not allowed on the Appstore. Well, as AppAdvice reports, Manomio must have done something to please Apple (maybe removing the open access to BASIC? Look further down) and the application is now available. Being a fully licensed emulator, Manomio even managed to get a deal to provide games with he emulator. Dragons Den, Le Mans, Jupiter Lander, Arctic Shipwreck, and Jack Attack are bundled with it and apparently there will be an option to buy extra games in the future.

For whoever thinks that a C64 is nothing without that BASIC blue screen (not talking about the “friendly” Windows blue screen  ), there is a little trick to get it out of the “box”. Apparently by leaving the keyboard always one, loading a game and quickly hitting RESET, the beloved white on blue text appears, so to make our C64 experience really how it has to be. Still reading this? Rush to the Appstore! (Via AppAdvice)

Soon this blog will be Gameloft exclusive. Almost daily they have some great news. After two huge successes like Gang$tar (GTA-like) and recently the excellent Sandstorm (Call of Duty like) and the soon to come Dungeons Hunter (RPG), Gameloft announced a Soul Calibur-like called Blades of Fury. This is by far the most anticipated game I can’t wait to put my (big) fingers on..enjoy the screenshots. Of course we’ll keep you posted of any evolution of this game.

There are 2 kind of games, admit it… There are the “mobile” (stupid) games and lately Gameloft, Electronic Arts and Firemint to name just a few give us the “console” kind of games. Those games have huge production value, extremely polished, with plots and gameplays never seen before on a portable device. No wonder Gameloft has sold 6 million copies of there games. I am always very exited when they announce any of there projects, and lately we have been seeing almost regularly games made by them.
Mordern Combat Sandstorm is no exception: I thought I was playing on a Playstation 2, the grafics are that good and they totally know their job when it comes to controls. It’s a first person shooter and the iPhone feels just like a gamepad with dual sticks.

I am confident that soon we will see more games of this caliber that will be 3Gs enhanced…I can’t wait.

If you watched the keynote where the AppStore was presented, you probably remember one game that stood out of the bunch, this game was Enigmo, a fun puzzle game with many simultaneous particle effects on screen.

Well rejoice, Pangea has done it again, and all in 3D. see for yourself:
