We do talk passionately about the iPhone on this blog. So obviously you may think we are 2 nerds deprived with any social live and worship our gadget like a God.
Well just for the record, Ka owns a Blackberry, a HTC Hero with Android and an iPhone 3G. I, on the other hand own a T-Mobile G1 (Google Phone), a Samsung S7500 (running Android), a 3Gs 32Gb and a Palm Pre coming next week.
Yes we are geeks.. And yes we do other things besides loving our toys. We know what we are talking about when we praise the iPhone, otherwise this blog would be named luxAndroid or luxPre. If we decided to go for the iPhone, it’s because in the past 3 years, no iPhone-killer has made me turn on Apple, and all of them got their fair chance. Each time, I wanted to believe, and each time I cheated, I begged for forgiveness. Many things-iPhone we take for granted. But anyone who’s been deprived for a couple of days feels my pain. Are you an addict too?
I guess we won’t see this version anytime soon….still worth a look:
Before I had an iPhone, there wasn’t anything comparable except maybe Windows Mobile. To be honest I owned quite a few and back in the days I even used to blog about the OS.
Then one day, the iPhone came into my life, it was love, yes real love at first sight. Many business features were still missing like syncing with the exchange server or editing attachements or office documents. No appstore either back then. I wrote a 2 pages article for the Wort with the pros and cons from a geeks point of view. Back then it became my secondary phone along with my HTC P3600 as primary business phone.
Many people, including my boss asked me what I thought about it. Is it just a toy, a good multimedia device with a phone or is there more?

Back then I predicted (mostly because the few things the iPhone did, it did them great, like the user interface) that in less then 4 years we will be selling only iPhones, and that I had a bad feeling about Windows Mobile.
I gave up my former blog. It became difficult to write once the faith was gone.
Why am I telling you all this? because Windows Mobile just got two major uppercuts in the chin and several in the guts:
1. iMate (a name in the Windows Mobile scene that used to re-brand HTC devices) filled for bankruptcy
2. Palm (that used to have many Windows Mobile devices in their lineup like the Treos) dumped Windows Mobile for good.
3. Although HTC (major Windows Mobile partner) is still producing some Windows Mobile devices it has obviously choosen the Android path, just like Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson with their Xperia 2.
Even if an update to windows mobile 6.5 is just around the corner, I doubt they will ever make it back on track.

Microsoft Employees Be Warned: Hide Your iPhone From Steve Ballmer
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has always been known to be a bit overzealous when taking the stage, and usually his antics lead to some not so positive publicity for the company he represents. His latest stunt may not take the cake as the most ridiculous thing he has ever done, but it certainly deserves some attention.
Yesterday Microsoft held a private company meeting at Seattle’s Safeco Field and while Ballmer was taking the stage, an employee decided to snap a picture with, you guessed it, an iPhone. According to TechFlash via Engadget, Ballmer snatched the iPhone from his employee’s hands and began making “funny comments,” which were apparently met by boos and jeers from other Microsoft employees. The fun didn’t stop there, however, as Ballmer took the show a step further and pretended to stomp on the competing device and then simply walked away from it. Later on during the presentation, Ballmer let the Apple-loving employee know that he hadn’t forgotten about him by making further comments.
Of course, all of this was done in good fun, although we’re not sure how much fun the Apple-loving Microsoft employee had while Ballmer manhandled his iPhone. Let this be a lesson to all of you Microsoft employees out there: do not, I repeat, do not let Steve Ballmer see your iPhone. No good can come of it. Also, don’t forget, if you ever have the chance to enter the Gates’ home, you probably shouldn’t whip out your iPhone either.
Sure, Apple’s iPhone OS 3.1 includes a couple of new goodies like iTunes-based App management, but if you like your Jailbroken or Unlocked iPhone, sit tight until Dev-Team gives the all clear. You could otherwise lose your unlock for good.

“If you update to Apple’s new software using the normal iTunes process, you will lose your ultrasn0w unlock. In fact you may lose it permanently, because for most people the
baseband firmware cannot be reverted to a previous version (unlike the main application CPU firmware).
But don’t worry…our PwnageTool program lets you update your main firmware without touching your baseband firmware, so you can still have the best of both worlds.”
From all reports, you can still update to (and sync with) iTunes 9, but just be sure to hit “no” when pestered to update your firmware…for now at least.
Reuters reports that a spokesperson from the European Union’s consumer safety division has stated that Apple is investigating the incidents where users have alleged that their iPhones exploded.

Apple believes these incidents are ‘isolated’ but will carry out tests to identify the root cause of the problem.
There have been few cases where iPhone or an iPod Touch had allegedly exploded:
* Guardian had reported about an incident in France where a teenager’s claimed that his girlfriend’s iPhone began making a hissing sound before the screen suddenly shattered, sending broken pieces of glass “flying in the air”.
* Folks at Geekologie had reported that a Dutch guy had claimed that his iPhone had exploded and burnt the seat in his car.
* Times had reported of an incident where a second generation iPod Touch exploded, set a person’s pants on fire, and caused second-degree burns.
This also comes close on the heels of another report, which claimed that Apple had offered a refund to a British family for an iPod Touch that had allegedly exploded only if they agreed to keep quiet about the incident.
Helen Kearns, spokeswoman from the European Union’s consumer safety division has stated:
“What they’ve said to us is that they consider these are isolated incidents,”
“They don’t consider that there’s a general problem.”
Apple has issued the following statement:
“We are aware of these reports and we are waiting to receive the iPhones from the customers. Until we have the full details, we don’t have anything further to add.”
Though the cases reported might sound a little scary, Apple has sold more than 40 million iPhones and iPod Touches and so far only few cases have been reported, so frankly I’m not worried.
How about you?
Well, no? it’s just some tuning done here in Luxembourg. I bought the back-cover a while ago from an australian retailer. You can find pretty much any spare OEM parts on the internet. My friend Ovi had some hardware issues with his iPhone and rather then sending it in, he descided he rather voids the warranty and fixes his problems on his own. As far as I can say, he did a pretty good job, not perfect, since the quality doesn’t match the original, but very close and exclusive.
So if you ruined an iPhone yourself and have no warranty on the device or the warranty doesn’t cover the damages. Send us an email and we’ll see what we can do
The rumor mill is churning yet again — the latest Apple rumor is that an event is coming on September 9th. Multiple sources are saying that they’ve heard Apple will host an event in San Francisco to talk about music, including upgrades for the iPod and iTunes. This is hardly a surprise — Apple usually holds an event this time of year to pump up back-to-school sales of expected iPod refreshes. So while of course it’s a rumor until we hear it from Cupertino, it’s pretty believable that sometime around September we’ll be hearing about new iPods of some kind.

It’s also pretty believable that this event won’t be about the rumored iTablet. While mockups, leaks, and fake shots (oh my) seem to be appearing more and more often lately, the same folks that are saying September 9th are also saying that Apple isn’t planning to tell us anything about a tablet quite yet. That doesn’t mean that it’s not coming, of course (eventually — keep hope alive!), but definitely don’t hold your breath for a September announcement or a holiday release. Looks like we’ll find out whether those iPod camera rumors are true soon, but we’ll probably have to keep waiting for the tablet.
Rumor has it Apple is prepping a Tablet. Remember, behind every rumor there is some truth. I can’t wait for this rumor to be confirmed. Here is a video showcasing the misterious device. So how fake is this fake clip? see for yourself. I sure know nomatter what it looks like, I sure want one, now! Steve if you read this, throw me a bone, will ya?
