Apps that push you One vs One Hundred

Skype… What were we before Skype came out? Paying outrageous amount of money on long distance calls. Skype got always more in our lifestyle and I’m sure that even some of our grannies use it to keep in touch.

Talking about keeping in touch, I reckon one of the nicest feature of Skype is being able to “rent” a local number, giving you a virtual presence where ever you wish. You have family in the US and live in Luxembourg? No problem! You grannie can call a US local number and your computer (or iPhone) rings here in Luxembourg.

While this works in that direction, unfortunately the opposite is not possible yet… At least via Skype alone. As a matter of fact, Skype, billed as a Luxembourgish company, is able to provide its customers with local numbers in various countries/cities… Except Luxembourg. And here is the Tip part of this post. Stumbled a while ago on a company called DIDWW. What they do is simple. You rent a Luxembourgish local number (they have various other countries too, other prices may apply) for 5$ a month (plus 5$ setup the first month). Once you have your own Luxembourgish virtual-local number, use their settings panel to easily route it to your Skype account. Whenever somebody rings that virtual number, your Skype account rings. Like it!
